Bhikṣuṇī Vibhaṇga

The Bhikṣuṇī Vibhaṇga of the Dharmaguptaka Vinaya constitute its second section and it is devoted to the analysis (Vibhaṇga) of the rules of the Bhikṣuṇī Prātimokṣa.

It expounds in detail only those rules that have been instituted by the Buddha specifically for bhikṣuṇīs; for those that are in common with the bhikṣus, we need to go to the Bhikṣu Vibhaṇga for explanations.

In the manuals that follow, I have incorporated the material from the Bhikṣu Vibhaṇga directly into the text, together with the parts of the last two sections of the Dharmaguptaka Vinaya, namely Saṃyuktavarga and Vinayekottara, which are relevant to the topic. The manuals contain also excerpts from other Vinayas when needed, together with the translation of passages from Chinese commentaries, particularly the works of Tang Vinaya Master Dao Xuan, the founder of the Nanshan School of Vinaya, followed to these days by Chinese monastics.

At present, only the two volumes of Pārājika and Saṃghāvaśeṣa are available. You can download them clicking the buttons below:
